These grassroots women are cognizant of their community’s needs and realities, therefore they devise plans and organize themselves through IWC to reduce their vulnerability, enhance the standard of living in their communities, and take up more space in the decision-making processes that have an impact on their lives.
Grassroots women are strongly linked to sustainable development because their practices to ensure local well-being and development are consistent with the global Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 5, which aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
